SBN Media Contest
Goal: To solicit high-quality, informative videos which pertain to behavioral neuroendocrinology from trainees in SBN. Selected videos will be posted on the SBN website to be accessed by the public and used by educators with the goal of improving public science literacy within the topic of behavioral neuroendocrinology.
Criteria: Originality; Visual appeal; Informative; Interesting without trivializing science; appropriate for K-12. Length should be 3-5 minutes.
Possible topics: Gender differences; Diversity of hormone effects; Hormones across the lifespan; Hormone effects in various animal models; Clinical cases; Hormonal rhythms; social bonds.
Timeline: Submissions should be sent as a DVD, with a deadline of May 1, 2012. A winner would be announced at the SBN meeting in
Madison, WI. Prizes will be travel awards to offset travel expenses to the meeting. Runners-up would also be acknowledged by having their video posted on the SBN website.

2011 Winner - Hanna and Laurie (UMass, Amherst): Congratulations to Hanna King and Lauri Kurdziel for creating the video that won the 2011 Media Contest. The video provides a broad introduction to our field, geared towards the general public. It is informative and uses a mixed format, including cameo appearances by celebrity neuroendocrinologists and some of our favorite hormones.
